Entertaining in the Country Joan Osofsky Abby Adams John Gruen 9780789336903 Books Reviews

  • I love the book. Joan's introduction helped to confirm some of my feelings and attitudes about entertaining in an environment that one loves and feels comfortable with---The book is inspiring and motivating-. The photos are simple and natural- and just beautiful and there are so many wonderful ideas and recipes. I am a very visual person and this book is a perfect fit. Congratulations to the creative authors and photographer.
As a result I have shared the book with friends and have ordered "Love Where You LiveAt Home it the Country'

  • Great book with menus and recipes for entertaining.
    Excellent customer service.
  • I love Joan Osofsky and Abby Adam’s new book, Entertaining in the Country Love Where You Eat. From the first photo in the inside cover to the last, the book is almost magical, offering a life of beautiful vistas, tastefully casual country rooms, and delicious, healthy, artistically laid-out foods. The reader is invited to share in the experience, and I did, from cover to cover.

The country homes, rooms, and outdoor views pictured on every page are really spectacular, but it is the food photos that really grabbed me. The arrangement of cheeses and veggies, soups and salads, meats and desserts on the serving platters, the linens and tableware, the simple but artful floral arrangements are perfectly designed and coordinated, but look casual and hopefully easy enough to imitate. The writing is also very good, and offers personal insight into the spirit of country entertaining.

Many of the recipes appear to be within my cooking capabilities. I plan to try several of them. It seems as if fresh locally-grown produce and meats are a good part of the country dining experience, so I’ll need to find a semi-urban venue for this purchase. Joan and Abby have given me ideas and inspiration.
